Incredible Summer Internship Opportunity!

Description: The internship offers the candidate an opportunity to get involved in an early stage international venture and to make important contributions regarding products and markets.
A seasoned entrepreneur is building a business plan for launching a for-profit business in Cambodia, seeking to leverage that country’s comparative advantages for the development and marketing of products made from bamboo.  The objective of the enterprise is to build a triple bottom line measured by financial profit, environmental sustainability, and social advancement. 
The Intern will be guided by the entrepreneur and will be responsible for contributions including:
  • Evaluating the Bamboo Flooring Market in the US and Europe, analyzing product types, customer preferences, sales trends.
  • Evaluating US distribution channels for bamboo flooring, describing the flow of goods, buyers, pricing and tradeoffs among the various channels.
  • Conducting pricing analysis on bamboo flooring sold in the US.
  • Making recommendations on positioning, distribution, and sales.
  • Conducting competitor analysis on manufacturers and distributors of bamboo flooring.
  • Evaluating market opportunities in the US and Europe for toys made from bamboo.

  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to use internet to dig and to find answers
  • Ability to summarize thoughts in prose and concepts in graphics

*This is an unpaid internship.  The intern will gain functional experience in Marketing and Strategic Analysis, and will understand the entrepreneurial process and key elements of international business. 
The internship hours are flexible.  There will be milestones and weekly meetings with the entrepreneur.  The internship will begin in May 2012 and will end in the first week of August 3, 2012.

  • Provides support for the organization’s quantitative and qualitative market research studies:
-  Assists Project Manager in conversion of quantitative and qualitative
  results into actionable insights
-  Proofs and edits verbatim comments and other qualitative data
     -  Codes verbatims based on specified code frames
     -  Analyzes research data using Microsoft Excel, SPSS,
        or Microsoft Access; tabulates data and develops formats for charts,

Internship project description:
This is an excellent creative internship opportunity for the right student.  The intern would be working with the Marketing Manager to assist in the development of communication with sales leads and brand awareness for the company.
Qualifications include:
Sales & Marketing background.  Mechanical Engineering background a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, customer service experience, webmaster skills and knowledge of sales and marketing.  Ability to be creative and provide original ideas are definitely a plus.
Proposed internship project goals, objectives, outcomes: 
To grow company sales via communication with potential leads.  Expand company brand awareness with Online Marketing projects.
Schedule:
Business hours are 8:30 to 4:30 at the McKees Rocks office location. Fifteen hours per week would be anticipated during the school term and full time additional hours can be utilized during the summer months when class is not in session.
Rate of Pay:

We are looking for a Visual Storytelling intern for the Summer of 2012
Enhance our storytelling processes through compelling, information-driven visuals.  The project is to increase our ability to visually tell the story of what our products do, their benefits, where they should be used and how its done in the various formats used today (Web, new media, print collateral, etc..).  Working with Berner staff, you will be writing, shooting, creating and editing pictures, and video.

Proposed internship project goals, objectives, outcomes:
An internship with Berner can provide you an opportunity to integrate your academic knowledge with work experience while being exposed to different aspects of our company.
We offer you the chance to help shape our company and how and what we communicate.  We give you a hands-on experience that will allow you to apply what you've learned in school to real-world projects.  The experience and skills gained will be a positive addition to your resume and portfolio.  Though roles and responsibilities vary, you will work alongside experienced professionals, as well as on your own.

Type of student sought:
     Multimedia / creative content student with at least 3 years of studies from an accredited institute of higher learning completed
